Sensagrate Takes First Place at the 2018 Smart Infrastructure Challenge for $10 Million in project financing
Sensagrate created the “Safer and Smarter Arizona Roadway Initiative” to assist in building a connected and automated vehicle environment in Southern Arizona.
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – On Friday, October 26th, Darryl Keeton II, Founder and President of Sensagrate, a smart city infrastructure-to-vehicle (I2V) communication platform, took first place the Safer and Smarter Arizona Roadways Initiative (SSARI) Project at the 2nd Annual Smart Region conference in Columbus, OH at the Hyatt Convention Center. The conference hosted the 2018 Smart Infrastructure Challenge targeting smart infrastructure to support and deploy smart region innovations. As part of the challenge, regional teams of public and private sector partners competed for $50M+ in project financing and pitched their smart and connected projects.

The mission of SSARI is to build more efficient roadways by fostering connected and automated vehicle (CAV) development and deployment corridors. A communication platform will be developed to assist government agencies in understanding and processing data generated from the transportation infrastructure and the data communicated through vehicle-to-everything (V2X), vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I), vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), and infrastructure-to-vehicle (I2V) technology communications.

Darryl Keeton pitched the project at the competition. “I am a true believer in self-driving cars, but there needs to be controls in place. That’s where Sensagrate comes in. We’re developing technology to support autonomous vehicles for our streets that provide communication for safety warnings, as they drive on the roads. Safer and smarter roadways can lead to zero fatalities. We look forward to building partnerships and relationships beyond our current team to make roads safer for connected and automated vehicle environments.”

The Smarter, Safer Streets track, sponsored by Smart City Infrastructure, is designed to accelerate best practices in the implementation of connected and smart infrastructure.

Any questions can be addressed to Darryl Keeton via email at dkeeton@sensagrate.com for more information.
